After a ceremony honoring fallen police officers on Sunday, the Newton Police Department invited families inside for the Newton Police Memorial Association’s scholarship presentation.

Gavin Doucette

Doucette, who plans to attend Bryant University in the fall, served as captain of the Newton North varsity hockey team and also played lacrosse. He works part-time at the Scandinavian Living Center and volunteers as a hockey coach. At Bryant, Doucette plans to major in business.

Isabella Bankhauser

A Newton South senior, Bankhauser has been on the Lions hurdling and sprinting team and has thrived in honors courses. She volunteers in the Big Sisters program and plans to attend Georgetown University in the fall, where she’ll major in international politics.

Matthew Guarino

A Newton North senior, Guarino had planned to play college football but was diagnosed with cancer. He used that challenge to find a new passion for sports photography. Guarino is in remission now and plans to attend Stonehill College and major in business,

Luke DeAngelo

A recent graduate of Natick High School, DeAngelo a member of the Unified Sports Program, through which he promoted inclusion for students with intellectual and physical disabilities. He plans to attend Bridgewater State University in the fall, where he will study public health and epidemiology.

Lochlan Chisholm

Chisholm is a senior at St. Sebastian’s High School, where he’s a member if the National Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society. He was also a member of the St. Sebastian’s hockey and baseball teams. He plans to attend Boston College in the fall, studying economics and accounting.

Maeve Healey

A senior at Newtron North, Healey is a member of the girls varsity hockey team and has been involved in More Than Words, collecting donated books and school supplies for kids in need. She plans to study nursing at Elon University.

Kayla McClain

McClain recently graduated from Keefe Technical High School, where she was captain of the cheerleading team and treasurer of the National Honor Society. She’s involved with that school’s health careers program and will attend the national conference as a delegate for Massachusetts. She plans to attend UMass Dartmouth in the fall, majoring in nursing.

Tessa Hill

A senior at Framingham High School, Hill comes from a family that has long served in the Newton Police Department. She wants to be a teacher, and she plans to attend Plymouth State University in the fall, majoring in elementary education.

Jason Boudreau

Boudreau is a senior at Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School and has been involved in theater at that school as well as Newton North. He’s been a member of the honor roll and plans to attend St. Lawrence University and plans to study pre-law.
