Hannukah’s over. Christmas is over. After this weekend, 2023 will be over. So get out and enjoy the last weekend of the year in the city.

Friday and Saturday are expected to be rainy but mild, with Sunday sunny but cold. So you’ll want to plan accordingly.

Here are five things to do in Newton this weekend:

Friday, Dec. 29

At 1 p.m., the Newton Free Library will host Stevie Kidding’s Magic Show, in the Druker Auditorium featuring comedy and magic acts for kids ages 4 and up.

At 6:30 p.m., the Newton Free Library will show the movie “Barbie.” The movie, which runs 114 minutes, is rated PG-13. So this event is for teens.

Saturday, Dec. 30

At 2 p.m., the Newton Free Library will host Winter Watercolors, a painting class and workshop in which participants learn to paint a winter landscape and sunset.

Sunday, Dec. 31

At 10:30 a.m., First Church in Chestnut Hill will have its annual Carol Sing Service, followed by a coffee hour. The service is free and open to the public and will feature holiday favorites to sing along with.

From noon to 3 p.m., Moldova will host a New Year’s Eve Drag brunch, featuring food, beverages and some of the most well-known drag queens from the area.
