Watertown
Watertown’s Whoville Jubilee and City Tree Lighting will be on Saturday, December 2nd from 5:30 to 8pm, at the Commander’s Mansion 440 Talcott Ave, Tree Lighting is at 7pm.

Wellesley
The Wellesley Holiday Stroll and Scavenger Hunt will take place on Sunday, December 3rd. Head to Wellesley Square throughout the day for holiday activities, and merchant discounts with the Tree Lighting at the Wellesley Square Fire Station at 5pm. Details.

Newton
The Nonantum Children’s Christmas Party Association will hold its annual Park Lighting at Coletti-Magni Park in Newton on Sunday, December 3rd. Hot chocolate and caroling at 6:15pm and the countdown to turn on the lights at 7pm. And on Sunday, December 17th beginning at 12pm, the fourth annual Nonantum Christmas Parade will wind through the streets of Nonantum ending at Coletti-Magni Park.

For three days from Friday, December 1 through Sunday, December 3rd, Newton City Hall will be transformed into an 18-hole mini golf course complete with greens and holes winding through the secret staircase in the Mayor’s Office, City Council Chambers, and War Memorial. In collaboration with the City of Newton Department of Health and Human Services and the Newton Rotary, the mini-golf event will benefit the city’s Holiday Gift Drive sponsored by The Village Bank.

From December 1st through the 14th, a gingerbread house exhibit and contest will be open for public viewing and voting, during regular open hours, at Newton City Hall. Judges including Mayor Ruthanne Fuller will select winners in various categories and exhibit visitors will select winners in “people’s choice” categories Most Whimsical, Best Use of Materials, and Best Architectural Design. Contest winners will be displayed at City Hall from December 18th -20th.

Needham
Needham’s Annual Blue Tree Lighting will take place on the newly renovated Town Common on Saturday, December 2nd from 5-6pm. Santa and other special guests will help with the countdown to the tree lighting. Santa will stay for photos after the event. Details.
