Newton’s Fourth of July daytime activities were cancelled because of rain, but the weather broke in time for the annual fireworks spectacular — a tradition going back decades and sponsored this year by the City of Newton.
Thousands gathered in and around Albemarle field. A foggy night obscured part of the fireworks, but not the grand finale.
